
John Zehner, Senior Vice President
John Zehner came to Stacy and Witbeck, Inc. in 1996 and brought with him ten years of experience in light rail and general engineering construction. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California State University, San Francisco. He started with Stacy and Witbeck as a track-work Superintendent and soon became a Construction Manager, Project Manager and then Senior Project Manager. He currently holds the position of Vice President of Operations for the Southwest United States. John is also a current member of the Company’s Board of Directors and Executive Management Group.
John has earned a reputation as one of the industry’s best Project Managers on large, complex and schedule critical light rail projects in the United States with experience in design-build, low bid and construction manager at risk delivery methods. He has led the industry in completing light rail lines through urban areas with minimum disruption to local businesses and communities. He managed the construction for Salt Lake City’s Design/Build University and Medical Center Extension in time for the 2002 Winter Olympics, completing the project a year in advance, and winning more than a dozen industry awards for his efforts including the nationally based Marvin M. Black Award for Partnering Excellence and the prestigious National Pride in Transportation Award. John went on to lead the construction effort for Line Section 5 for Valley Metro in Phoenix where he again finished early and won ENR’s coveted award for the Best Transportation Project in America as well as numerous other awards.
