Location: The project extends the existing City of Portland Streetcar system by approximately six (6) miles. Alignment starts at the existing NW (Pearl District) portion of the line and extends to the Central Downtown of NE Portland via the Broadway Bridge with a flyover bridge at the project’s southern end leading to a terminus station within 1,000 feet of the Stacy and Witbeck Portland area office. This station is adjacent to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Construction also includes a new Maintenance Building.

  · At grade crossing of existing TriMet MAX at two (2)
    locations.
  · Completed work will allow use of a new prototype
    Streetcar vehicle made in Oregon.
  · City of Portland first time use of federal FTA funds to
     construct an extension of the Streetcar system.
    And, as a result requires DBE participation.
  · Multiple new turnouts and crosses at active Streetcar
    and TriMet alignments.
  · New alignment has 25 stops.
  · Nearly all track work is concrete encased Ri52 girder
    rail from Austria.



Track ties into existing City of Portland Streetcar alignment and makes its way to the nearly 100 year old Broadway Bridge which allows the double track to cross over the Willamette River. The alignment crosses Interstates I5 and I84 heading south along NE MLK Blvd., a four (4) lane high traffic volume thoroughfare, and heads back north along an the equally as busy Grand Avenue . The southern terminus is reached by way of a new flyover bridge over the UPRR leading to a station adjacent to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Total alignment length is in excess of six (6) miles.
