The FrontRunner South Commuter rail line is a $511 million project featuring 45 miles of new track, stations, and civil infrastructure, all constructed in an active Union Pacific Railroad freight corridor. The line adds commuter rail service from the Provo Intermodal Center through Utah County to the Salt Lake Central Station in downtown Salt Lake City. FrontRunner South, which opened in December of 2012, allows passengers to travel from Provo to Salt Lake City in just under one hour.
