Northwest Light Rail Extension

Valley Metro Rail

Phoenix, Arizona

The Northwest Extension project is a 3.24 mile light rail line extending the existing light rail system along 19th Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona. The alignment is located along one of the city's most highly traveled corridor in which over 14% of the area's residents rely on public transportation. The construction work required close coordination with local hospitals, schools, residential (both single family and large multi-family housing complexes), and retail spaces. Scope of work included major utility relocations, roadway widening (40-ft. average), embedded double track, systems work, three stations at the major intersections of Glendale, Northern, and Dunlap, and a park and ride at the west terminus of Dunlap.
